The new hospital is scheduled to open early 2011.

“The synergy between the local area board certified physicians and Loma Linda University Medical Center has excited all the communities in Southwest Riverside County”, said Dr. John R. Piconi, Chairman of the Board of Physicians Group of Murrieta.

The 106-bed hospital will offer advanced medical specialties including interventional cardiovascular services. Specialty units in obstetrics, urology and orthopedics will also be available at the hospital.

“Loma Linda University is recognized as a world-wide leader in providing healthcare,” said Murrieta Mayor Gary Thomasian. “This means our community will have world-class medical service.”

Additionally, the hospital will house state-of-the-art surgical suites and a laparoscopic surgery center. Other medical services provided by the hospital will include an imaging center, emergency room and acute care facilities. “We continue to think that this is one of the best things that Loma Linda is working on,” said Ruthita Fike, CEO of Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Located on 50 acres at the northeast corner of Antelope and Baxter Roads near Highway 215 north of Clinton Keith Road, the hospital will provide medical services for the regional area. Loma Linda University’s extensive health care system includes numerous medical centers and hospitals with a total of 974 beds. The extensive Loma Linda University health system averages over 30,000 inpatient discharges and approximately 500,000 outpatient visits each year throughout Southern California.
